Every Friday the 13th since 1998, D. Striker has published RR, a zine that tackles Nashville’s past and present while throwing up a salute to revelry and crazy people. Past issues have given readers finger holes to fill to make Tammy Wynette’s legs, the history of the Kenny Rogers phone sex scandal, and a first-person account of a night out during “fan fair” with a Polaroid camera and a T-shirt with iron-on-letters, “I’ll take your photo for a beer.” Given the freakish publication schedule, Jim Ridley of the Nashville Scene called the zine, “A beast as elusive as the centaur or free beer night.” Each new issue of RR is celebrated with a release party where D. Striker performs with his long-time band. Country music historian, Robert K. Oermann once wrote of D. Striker’s music, “He can’t sing, but you can’t help listening.”

D. Striker will be accompanied by sets from Teddy and the Rough Riders, Zach Schmidt, and Matt Campbell.

Also, while this is going on in the back ballroom, the Front Bar will be featuring Friday Karaoke with a new twist. Starting last Friday and continuing tonight, a $50 cash prize will be awarded to the crowd’s favorite singer. Singing starts at 7:00 and the contest begins at 9:00. After eight weeks, the weekly winners will compete for $200 cash and a guitar!
